When I was combing "Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot" broadcasts for the Columbia TriStar International Television logo back in May, I happened to catch in my sweep-net the tail-ends of a few episodes of Animaniacs. One such episode was number 4, "Hooked On A Ceiling/Goodfeather: The Beginning". I noticed that these broadcasts appeared to be digital (obviously), but originated from very old film, possibly shipped across the Atlantic over a decade ago.
I also noticed that the copyright notices differ:
*On the broadcast print: "©1993 Warner Bros. Animation, A Division of Time-Warner Entertainment Co., L.P." before the tower opens, with an IATSE bug.
*On the DVD print: "©1993 Warner Bros., A Time-Warner Entertainment Company" after the tower opens, with no bug.
Clearly, the broadcast copyright notice gives much more corporate information, and seeing it way back in June 2012 was probably what inspired me to investigate WB's corporate history in the first place. Also, I'd love to see the huge stack of grievance paperwork some poor WB bureaucrat had to fill out with the IATSE to get the bug removed!
Even more perplexing, the broadcast print used the older Warner Bros. Television Distribution logo with the byline "A TIME WARNER COMPANY", whose use was meant to be phased out well before Animaniacs came on the air.
