fastsquare46 | Comparison of castle socks, sleepy skip, and forbidden mid vs late for 100% (no LCBs or one frames) @fastsquare46 | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 4 minutes ago
I can't do prawn early consistently atm so I have to do two of these in midgame (in a VMS route I would only have to do one because of TGB, but I recently switched to a street jump route).
Castle socks early loses 1.9
Sleepy skip mid loses 6.6
Forbidden late loses 6.9
Castle socks early for second sock trade in mid requires an extra load for the trade itself, but a load is saved visiting the rock in mid so it's still a +2. But this also requires one more sock in midgame if I'm not doing security tunnel VMS, which I'm probably not. The next best option is the sandman sock which loses 3 in mid, making the extra sock trade a +5 in total for me. Man there is a lot of nuance in this game
So castle socks for a second sock trade mid and sleepy skip mid are probably the play (for me at least)
An interesting result of this find is that high level runners that do prawn early and security tunnel VMS might be able to push forbidden to late game by doing castle socks early, allowing them to break even without having to do F1F. High level runners usually do an LCB for the beach though which probably messes with the timing of the castle socks. I should probably look into it further cause if it's actually good it'll be my first contribution to BFBB speedrunning since the dumpster sock and hand enable overlap in warpless lol
Note that this assumes that sea cave socks early and late are the same, from what I've heard they're pretty close
