This video is 100% demo footage, comparing the new DZOFilm Vespid 2 to their big brother the DZOFilm Arles primes, plus a few bonus shots with the Thypoch Simera-C lenses at the end. All shots were taken wide open (T1.4 for Arles, T1.9 for Vespid 2, T1.5 for Simera-C), graded with FilmConvert, and have the same color adjustments. All shots in this video are from the RED V-Raptor X in 8k 16:9.
My take is that the Arles and Vespid 2 lenses are amazingly similar, very well color-matched, and I'm comfortable saying that Vespid 2 is essentially a Mini-Arles. There are times when I really want the extra "magic" of T1.4, but once you hit T1.9 the sets are very similar. I've really enjoyed using the Vespid 2, and if you're in the market for a set of budget cinema lenses, they will not disappoint.
