A four-wheel car needs a differential gear to allow the inside wheel to turn slower in a curve. If you don't use that gear, but you put a motor on each wheel, you need to change speed or power to accommodate turns. Here's a video comparing both. Bonus: I also compared an Ackerman steering setup for the rack steering.
