The importance of community-based journalism has become increasingly apparent following this past year of pandemic restrictions, which came at a time of already diminished resources for local news coverage. Join CHF for a conversation featuring journalists covering their own communities. Representing a range of models for local reporting, they will discuss the unique roles journalists can play in sharing their neighbors’s stories and serving communal needs. Together, they offer a portrait of the challenges and opportunities for more inclusive and democratic reporting in our current moment.

At CHF, we have the great pleasure of introducing you to a whole new side to this superstar, whose new memoir Hello, Molly! tells the hilarious, heartbreaking, and honest story of how Shannon crafted her signature brand of daring and empathetic comedy. Shannon is joined in conversation by SNL alum Tim Meadows.

Join Maddow as she sits down with historian, author and Northwestern University professor Kathleen Belew to explore the rise of this wild strain of American authoritarianism, the profoundly relevant insights about America today that can be drawn from its history, and her take on our own unprecedented times.

His latest memoir Baggage: Tales from a Fully Packed Life recounts tales from his life in Hollywood and reminds us not to buy into the movie star ending. At CHF, Cumming shares the lessons learned from meeting legends, making bad decisions, finding joy, and acquiring baggage along the way. He is joined in conversation by editorial page editor of The Chicago Tribune Chris Jones.
