The Google/Apple Exposure Notification System helps public health authorities contact and give guidance to anyone who may have been exposed to a person who has contracted COVID-19. The whole system functions in three pieces. The first is the Exposure Notification System which is available to iOS 13.5 and Android 6.0. The second part is the app itself, which must be released by a public health authority, and exposes the functionality of the Exposure Notification System to the user. The final piece is the ENS (exposure notifications key server) responsible for collecting positive diagnoses and notifying those who have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Sherif Kozman and Dick Lucas from the PathCheck Foundation will share their technical experience developing an open source turnkey solution utilizing this system which will be available to health authorities all over the world.
