The Common Garter Snake, Thamnophis sirtalis. As a species, this is the most common snake in North America, though multiple threatened or endangered subspecies exist. In this episode, I find two beautiful specimens, both just a few days away from their shed. One also had a stump tail, and I discuss the cause of this common feature in this species.
