It has been a year since I restored my Commodore PET 4032, so it is time to feature it again on the channel! After a quick look back at the restoration while the MATRIX demo runs, I check out PETSCII Wizard Of Wor, a homebrew Commodore PET game released in 2024 and inspired by the classic 1980 Bally Midway arcade game Wizard Of Wor.
Join me for some PETSCII Wizard Of Wor gameplay on real Commodore PET 4032 hardware as I explore the maze, battle monsters, and see how this modern game brings the arcade experience to one of Commodore's earliest computers.

00:57 Using my PET2SD to load the PETSCII Wizard Of Wor Game
02:26 Starting to play PETSCII Wizard Of Wor
04:02 Double Score Dungeon
05:07 Earned a Bonus Player
06:32 Game Over: Final Score 23,700
06:39 Final Thoughts & Outro
Gameplay Features:
- Co-op Mode: Just like the coin-op version, you can play solo or bring a friend into the maze for cooperative monster-blasting action.
- Classic Maze: Navigate treacherous, looping corridors as you hunt down the Worriors, Burwors, and the elusive Wizard himself.
- Radar System: Use the bottom-of-screen radar to track invisible or off-screen enemies before they ambush you.
Hardware and Compatibility:
To run the game, your Commodore PET computer must be equipped with 32KB of RAM. It is designed to utilize the standard PETSCII (PET Standard Code of Information Interchange) graphics set native to the machine, making clever use of the built-in shape and line-drawing symbols to construct the mazes and enemies without needing a specialized sprite chip.
