This Commodore 64C was found in a pile of rubbish under a house by a friend who was doing renovations. It must have been sitting under there for at least twenty years.
I’ll remove the rust, polish the RF shield, and repaint it silver. I know the shield isn’t absolutely necessary, but it means I don’t have to worry about keyboard supports or stands.
It will probably need the colour RAM replaced, along with a keyboard stem and a replacement Shift key, but after that I should hopefully have a working Commodore 64C again.
For now, I’ve removed the SID while I test and repair the rest of the system.
I’ve now replaced the faulty colour RAM with a socketed NEC 2114.
