2019 COMICS IN THE CITY
In celebration CCA’s MFA in Comics program hosted its seventh annual guest speaker series featuring three of comics' most vibrant creators and a special reading by our graduating students. The Comics in the City speaker series highlights various aspects of the comics medium from independent publishing to the craft of writing and the future of digital comics.

Joey Alison Sayers is a cartoonist living in Oakland, CA. Her comics have appeared in The Nib, Mad Magazine, numerous alternative newsweeklies, and the Best American Comics anthology. From the Sayers' comic strip collections, Teen Power and Stupid Dreams, to her memoir comics, Just So You Know, tackles modern life with sharp wit and meticulous comedic timing. Recently, Joey Alison was named the new writer for the long-running, syndicated comic Alley Oop.
