Hey Everyone! Welcome to this week's show. This week, my friends Jeff and Kavi are joining me for a special, somewhat different episode of Comic Art 101. Over the decades that I've been involved in this hobby, I've often heard collectors make statements such as "Comic art isn't affordable anymore, everything is expensive now!". While there IS a lot of truth in that statement, it isn't completely accurate either. Both Jeff, Kavi and I still manage to collect art which is very affordable, so we thought it would be a good idea to try to help broaden collectors' horizons and present ideas of published art that can still be purchased very affordably and even cheaply, which also provide lots of fun for us.
While I'm aware that most, if not all of these ideas may fall on deaf ears for most of you, our goal is primarily to reach those of you out there who are open to broadening your horizons in terms of the character, artist and time period selection, to show you that it IS still possible to collect published, original comic art affordably and have fun with it. Because while you may not care for them today, the time may eventually come where you can no longer afford to collect the art you currently do, and rather than assume you then have to stop collecting altogether, you might remember this episode and think "You know what? I'm gonna take a closer look at the art that Rubén, Jeff & Kavi showed and talked about on that Comic Art 101 episode way back when!".
