The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a book about a poor Cuban girl turned Hollywood starlet. The book goes through each of Evelyn’s love interests with many gossip articles written about her scattered throughout the book, hence the use of the song “Gossip” by Mâneskin.
The lyrics “Welcome to the city of lies, where everything's got a price, it's gonna be in your favorite place, you can be a movie star” matches the book because of how many fake relationships Evelyn had to use to achieve to her fame. I chose Come to the Cabaret as the dance because Maddie captivates the audience from the very start just as Evelyn did.
