Yo Newcastle, I'm back. After single-handedly closing down Fanny's and reopening the Nobby's Lighthouse for one Sunday per month, this place is looking pretty good. So it's time for me to address the next burning issue facing Newcastle: dangerous driving.
Whether it's heading to work, cruising to the beach or riding through Mayfield trying not to stop, for most of us, cars are everything. But forget Jumping Spinal At Catho or Surfing the Harbour after a storm, driving one of the most dangerous activity we're likely to do on the daily.
Newcastle doesn't have the greatest record when it comes to being safe on our roads. I'm sure we've all seen those punks hooning it down Doof Doof Street or smashing donuts out at Stockton. Too often, the results can be fatal.
So Samsung got me and the Newie-C massive on board and kitted us out with S-Drive, a sweet new app that actually rewards safe driving. It uses GPS to track your speed and every safe km you clock up rewards you with points and you can be rewarded with stuff like movie tickets, tablets, or even a ski trip to New Zealand.
