Imagine arriving at a destination and not knowing where you are yet feeling an overwhelming sense of comfort and sentimentality in your surroundings. However strange or contradictory this may seem, this is where we uncover toehead underneath the sheets with his flashlight, sharing stories of moments that have both passed him by and that have yet to come strung together with nothing more than a couple of shrieks and shadow play. From the outsiders vantage point, these stories seem obscured. But much like the Allegory of the Cave, the puppeteer is the one in control.
Indeed, this collection of demos sets to establish as many grey lines as it abolishes. It is one of those mixed bags that conjures up a sense of nostalgia that is unspecific to any one person or memory but instead to a time and place that any one can tap into, regardless of experience. These songs will give you plenty of room to breathe while still dauntingly lingering about ready to overtake you at any moments notice. So roll up that doobie, kick back the recliner, and enjoy the ride back to the year 19??.
