The Violet and Blue Violet families of Copic Markers are so pretty! Sadly, complementary underpainting doesn’t work with purple markers. Amy demonstrates her applied color theory steps for swatching and testing V and BV marker blends to match an Iris blossom photo reference. This process also works with colored pencil or watercolor. If you’ve ever been confused by the color wheel and not sure which violet or purple marker blending combinations are best for flowers, botanicals, or summer landscapes, this series of videos helps make coloring easier.
This exercise is for marker selection-- this is not a coloring or blending tutorial. Color selection is a struggle for most colorers and it's not taught classes which require a specific marker list. Seeing a professional artist in action, picking colors and explaining why colors work/fail can be very helpful in developing your own artistry.
