In today's tutorial we're making a Color Strobe effect in DaVinci Resolve 16 using a couple different methods. Everything in today's video can be done in the free version of DaVinci Resolve

So I'd say there's pros and cons to the two different methods. While the first method with the solids is easy to make and manipulate to match the audio I feel like making the adjust within the color page typically produces a nicer looking effect. You could however combine the two methods and in stead of using solid colors, make multiple adjustment layers each with a different color and match it to the beat that way. The main goal was to give enough info to start experimenting for yourself and develop a method that works for your project.
