TJBChris | Color Computer 3 - Booting OS-9 Level II From Cassette @TJBChris | Uploaded March 2021 | Updated October 2024, 11 hours ago.
Why boot OS-9 Level II from a convenient medium, such as a floppy disk, CoCo SDC, Super IDE, or DriveWire, when you can boot it from the most finicky medium there is: cassette. I go through the process of CLOADM-ing OS-9 into my Tandy Color Computer 3 using my CCR-81 Computer Cassette Recorder, booting it, and using it...all without disks! After it boots up, I go into a little detail about what I did to make this work.
At 8:06, I mistakenly say I'm relocating the boot track from $2000 to $2600. This is incorrect. The boot track is moved from $E00 to $2600.
Music: Sideways Samba (from the YouTube Audio Library)
If you like to jump around, here's the index:

Booting Cassette OS-9 (3:40)
Using Cassette OS-9 (3:50)

Wrap-Up & Outro (10:42)
I do these videos unscripted, so I apologize if the in-the-moment descriptions of things are a bit all-over-the-place. If you have any questions/comments about this video, you can find me in any of these fine locations:
