Collins Aerospace has opened a new $50 million advanced electric power systems lab, The Grid, at its campus in Rockford, Illinois. Collins will use the new facility to develop and test cutting-edge electric motors, controllers, generators and distribution systems for hybrid-electric propulsion and more electric systems that will support the aviation industry’s drive to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
