The rich cocktail of decorative features on this dish is a potent evocation of both the School of Fontainebleau and French ornamental prints of the second half of the sixteenth century. This accomplished dish, which is one of the most ambitious works produced by Martial Courteys, can be found in the Wallace Collection's Sixteenth Century Gallery.
