I ride the A (Blue) Line from Union Station to Pico Station. Then I walked into the south hall first to see what event is taking place there (there was no signage anywhere outside, and if there was, somehow I missed it). The Copa Toque Futsal Festival was happening in the South Hall. The Compass Cafe was closed. I saw some workers doing remodeling for the 2028 Olympics. I journeyed down the abnormally quiet hallway to the west hall where Collect-A-Con was taking place. This event was nothing more than a trade show of Pokémon cards, with very few sports cards and obscure brands (like MetaZoo). My expectations were too high. There was very little cosplay, little to no entertainment or shows, and no food trucks. Whereas most conventions will cater to all genres despite having a specific title (for example a comic con having more than just comics), Collect-A-Con is 99% Pokémon cards. As I was leaving, I noticed the furniture from the hallway is now in the west hall lobby. I go outside. No signage anywhere for this event too!
