When this game was first released I never had the ability to win a championship on novice, let alone intermediate. I was only 11 on its initial release. However I loved this game because of its difficulty. It sparked that fierce competitive nature within me you see today with pushing cars to the very limit on DiRT Rally 2.0 & WRC 10 and the setups I share that get me to there. Time would teach me certain things like braking points, racing lines and car control but none of that was present at the time. My mantra to date which started with this game is "do better by being better". which is my own little way saying learn, adapt, evolve and move on.
So, 24 years later with maybe around 50,000 hours of racing knowledge on @codemasters games alone behind me, I finally feel I have what it takes to take the championship and beat Colin McRae to the championship title.
However, what I quickly discovered is that most of that experience would count for nothing as I couldn't remember a single stage and with struggling to adapt to the digital on-off inputs it created some rather embarrassing moments.
So there will be a lot of fails but hopefully some epic moments along the way.
Its also worth noting that the co-driver corner severity numbers are reversed in Colin McRae Rally.
1 being open and 5 being a tight corner on the co-driver calls. That did take a few championship rounds to get it into my head.
