originally put this song out on soundcloud in 2013. wrote it for a friend of mine named Nick Longworth. it was his birthday recently so i was thinking of him. thinking about how i've lost contact with so many people i used to be close to but how he and i have always managed to keep our friendship alive. he's a good human being. -cole

lyrics:
i got to thinking today about a good friend of mine and i
decided that he deserved a song
then i got to thinking ‘bout the old days in Park Rapids
where we were pissing off the Newmans
aw, well i wanna tell this guy that i miss his company
well he’s a good friend indeed
you know that in our day, a friend is a precious commodity
it’s an all too precious rarity
oh well my brother how things have truly changed
but never for the worse
oh well my brother how we played those rebel beats
i don’t regret a single verse
as i was sitting in my folding chair
i was thinking ‘bout A Better Place
oh and that guy who jumped on stage with us and played and i
felt a subtle sadness there
well i remember when you told me that he’d passed away
died of liver failure
whether right or not
we played and smoked punk and pot
and i had never played that 1,2 beat
oh well my brother how things have truly changed
but never for the worse
oh well my brother how we played those rebel beats
i don’t regret a single verse
whether right or not
we played and smoked punk and pot
and i had never played that 1,2 beat
