Colab provides developers with frictionless access to powerful computing resources right in the browser, without having to install or manage any software. Offering free computational resources, Colab hopes to increase access to high-powered GPUs for machine learning applications globally.
We visited the HausaNLP team in Kano, Nigeria to discuss how they use Colab with the goal of democratizing access to AI. The team is focused on increasing the representation of the 300+ languages spoken in Nigeria in the datasets that train AI systems. Without this improved language representation, it’s impossible to build effective & inclusive AI.
