The Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of 25 businesses from Cohort 10 and the welcoming of 20 new enterprises into Cohort 11. Since 2017, GCIC’s 363 supported ventures have made remarkable impacts: mitigating over 3.1 million tons of CO₂, creating 32,000+ jobs, and raising $42.6 million in capital. Notably, Cohort 10 achieved gender parity with 13 women-led and 12 men-led businesses—a critical milestone in an ecosystem where only 2% of global climate funding reaches women founders.
Naa Akwetey, COO of Ashesi University, captured the spirit of the event: “From waste transformation to solar-powered agriculture, our graduates prove sustainability and profitability go hand-in-hand.”
Cohort 11 will receive comprehensive support, including $15,000 CAD grants, expert mentorship, and business training further solidifying GCIC’s role as West Africa’s premier climate innovation hub.
