Spent ~40 hours with Code Vein 2 and it put me through it — frustrating, challenging, and sometimes straight-up exhausting… but it also rewarded me in a way I didn’t expect. I finished the main story, cleared a bunch of side content, pushed into the endgame, and completed 2 of the 3 endings. After seeing what this Soulslike has to offer, I can confidently say: Code Vein 2 is a flawed Soulslike… but one that ultimately earns its place.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans and revenants (vampiric beings) fight to survive, Code Vein 2 revolves around exploration, quests, and combat — and combat is where the game truly shines. Attacks feel weighty, dodges are precise, and once the systems click, the build depth becomes clear. When it all comes together, it delivers the payoff the genre promises.
I still think it doesn’t always respect the player’s time, but after experiencing the second ending and seeing the game at its best, this lands at a soft 8/10 for me — a game I respect and genuinely appreciated by the end.
