Towed Target Service
Cobham Aviation Services has extensive experience in providing a suite of towed targets of varying Radar Cross Section, satisfying a wide range of customer requirements in the development, trialling and in-service support of air defence, radar and missile systems worldwide.
A range of target types are available for being towed behind the Cobham's fleet of Falcon 20 aircraft, to suit various requirements for size and threat type. The ability to fly the target at a constant height above the surface of the sea is available.
The targets have options for augmentation with controlled radar cross-section (RCS) between 0.1 and 0.5 m2, visual optical flare or lamp emission and infra-red flare emission. They also have options for augmentation with high-temperature black-body radiation, smoke generation, miss distance indication and GPS location logging (standard and precision).
Most targets incorporate spare volume, control and power supply capacity, which can be used for customer payloads for special or trials purposes.
