Free EmulatorThe Wild Rings (Japan) "Only on Xbox" running at 3x native resolution on a Windows 10 64-bit PC via the xemu original Xbox emulator version 0.7.132. Official xemu site: https://xemu.app/ http://www.freeemulator.com/xbox-emulators
xemu is currently available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Flatpak, and Ubuntu PPA operating systems.
Note that at this time not all Xbox games are compatible with the xemu emulator, but the awesome xemu devs are constantly working to make more games playable. Here's the official compatibility list: https://xemu.app/#compatibility
---------
My PC specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700G CPU (24,689 multithread / 3,286 single thread PassMark score) - NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB Graphics Card - 32GB DDR4 3600MHz (PC4-28800) CL18 Desktop Memory - SSD storage (NVMe) - Windows 10 (I tried Windows 11 shortly after it released and found it to be too buggy for what I mostly do on PC, so I reverted back to Windows 10)
---------
xemu setup and settings:
If a setting isn't mentioned below, assume I left it at its default.
Also note that with my PC (Windows 10), I usually run my 4K monitor at 300% "Scale and layout" from within the operating system's "Display" settings. However, that causes xemu's upscaling to not work properly... but setting it back to 100% makes everything work as it should.
For the initial setup of xemu, you need the following files (Google for them or watch other videos here on YouTube if you need them):
SETTINGS - SYSTEM
-MCPX Boot ROM: mcpx_1.0.bin -Flash ROM (BIOS): Complex_4627.bin or Complex_4627v1.03.bin (I believe either will work) -Hard Disk: You can use the default one if you don't want to be able to boot into the original MS dashboard (more on that below) -EEPROM: eeprom.bin
NOTE: To enable native 16:9 widescreen support, you need to be able to boot into the official Microsoft dashboard via xemu, which involves booting into a replacement dashboard using the dashboard's .iso file, then FTP'ing the official dashboard, and tweaking a few settings. You can get started with that here: https://xemu.app/docs/ftp/ -- You will likely need to search YouTube for how to do this whole process as it can be a bit confusing/complex. I believe you can also make adjustments to the eeprom.bin file, but I didn't mess with that myself.
SETTINGS - INPUT
I am using an official Xbox One controller connected to my PC via USB. The emulator automatically detects and maps all of the buttons with this setup.
SETTINGS - DISPLAY
-Internal resolution scale: I have found this to be dependent on the game. Some games will run at full speed for me when I render them in 4K (i.e. 6x), others struggle at 1x or 2x, and yet others somewhere in-between. You'll have to play around with this setting to see what works best for your setup on a game-by-game basis. -Vertical refresh sync: On -UI sacle: 2x (I like it at 2x better than 1x, but try out both and see what suits you). -Display mode: Scale (should be the default, but I don't remember exactly). -Aspect ratio: 4:3 for games that do not support native 16:9 and 16:9 for games that natively support it (assuming you have it enabled with the official MS dashboard).
SETTINGS - NETWORK
In order to be able to FTP files over to setup the official dashboard (search on YouTube for how to do this if you want the official MS dashboard), you'll need to setup the adapter here so it is enabled, attached to NAT, and port forwarding to something like 2121 host port, 21 guest port, and TCP protocol.
With xemu you can play some of your favorite OG Xbox games, such as Halo 1 & 2, Ninja Gaiden Black, Project Gotham Racing 1 & 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio Future, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Max Payne, Tetris Worlds, Dredd vs. Death, Smashing Drive, Bad Boys Miami Takedown, and tons more!

PCSX2 is currently available on Windows, Linux, & macOS operating systems.
---------
As I have done for other consoles, I decided to start a project to test out every English PS2 game (mainly focusing on NTSC-U region, but I will be testing other region's exclusive games as long as they are in English and perhaps a few others not in English if they are highly regarded and seem interesting to me). I will be testing games in alphabetical order. I will be rendering the games in 4K via the PCSX2 emulator.
---------
Want to keep up with my PCSX2 gameplay progress notes and links to the videos I've done so far? All you have to do is click the Google Spreadsheets link below!
Pay special attention to the requirements section as it outlines the hardware you'll need to run games at different resolutions.
---------
MY PC SPECS:
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700G CPU (24,689 multithread / 3,286 single thread PassMark score) - NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB GPU - 32GB DDR4 3600MHz (PC4-28800) CL18 Desktop Memory - 2TB Samsung 980 Pro SSD - Windows 10 (I tried Windows 11 shortly after it released and found it to be too buggy for what I mostly do on PC, so I reverted back to Windows 10)
---------
With the release of PCSX2 version 2.0 in July 2024, PCSX2 has automated a lot of things (even game-by-game patches). Here are the main (non-default) settings I use for PCSX2. If a game requires additional settings then they will be noted in the comments of the video and the Google Spreadsheet linked above.
- Settings / Graphics Renderer: Vulkan -- The PCSX2 docs say to leave this on "Automatic (Default)." However, if your device works with Vulkan than the docs say this is the best/most accurate one to choose.
- Settings / Graphics / Display tab FMV Aspect Ratio: Standard (4:3) -- I don't want the videos to be stretched when I use a 16:9/widescreen patch. Deinterlacing: Automatic (Default) -- For now I am leaving this at the default, but some games will require you to tinker with this if the image is shaky or strange looking. [x] Apply Widescreen Patches -- I plan on using widescreen patches for most of my testings--so long as they don't mess things up too much. [x] Apply No-Interlacing Patches -- I'd rather the games run in progressive mode. However, sometimes these patches can cause issues so I might not have this setting enabled for specific games.
- Settings / Graphics / Rendering tab Internal Resolution: 6x Native (~2160px/4K UHD) -- Here's where you get the enhanced graphics. Changing this above native resolution can cause some games to have graphical glitches. If you experience glitches in games you are playing, keep lowering the resolution one step at a time until they (hopefully) go away.
- Settings / Graphics / Texture Replacement There is an active community on gbatemp that creates texture packs for a small amount of games (mostly the popular ones). If you have such a pack, place them in the directory shown on this tab and enable check "Load Textures." I will be testing out texture packs when available. Here's the link to the texture pack group: gbatemp.net/forums/pcsx2-hd-texture-pack-group.549
- Settings / Graphics / Post-Processing Contrast Adaptive Sharpening: Sharpen and Resize (Display Resolution) with Sharpness at 50%. [x] FXAA
- Settings / Graphics / OSD [ ] Unchecked Show OSD Messages -- This is just a personal preference as I'd rather not have messages pop up on my screen from the emulator.
That's it to start this projet with. I might be making adjustments to these settings in the future as I get more familiar with PCSX2 version 2.

Night of 100 Frights for the Nintendo GameCube emulation gameplay on the Google Pixel 7 (not the Pro model) Android phone via the Dolphin emulator version 2409-112. http://www.freeemulator.com/dolphin-emulator
I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation. It seems to run a lot of GameCube and Wii games pretty well at 2x resolution, which actually looks really nice and crisp on the phone's display.
For GameCube games, I am using a real GameCube controller connected to my phone via an OEM Wii U GameCube controller adapter (I use a USB hub that connects to the phone via a USB C to A adapter... the adapter the phone comes with works fine).
For Wii games, I use a real Wii remote / nunchuck connected to my phone via a Mayflash DolphinBar (requires a USB C to A adapter... the one the phone comes with works fine).
I am using the phone's built-in video screen recorder. Note that it can have a small impact on performance, so if a game appears slightly jerky but the FPS remains solid, it typically plays smooth as butter on the phone when not recording.
GOOGLE PIXEL 7 SPECS: - 6.3-inch OLED / 20:9 aspect ratio / Up to 90Hz screen - Google Tensor G2 CPU - Mali-G710 MP7 GPU - 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM - 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage - October 13, 2022 street release date
The Dolphin emulator is officially available for Windows, Mac, Android, and Linux.
With Dolphin you can play the best GameCube games, such as Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Resident Evil 4, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, SoulCalibur II, SSX 3, Madden NFL 2004, Super Mario Sunshine, Viewtiful Joe, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikmin 1 & 2, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and many many more!
CONFIG - PATHS Untouched--I didn't mess with any settings here
CONFIG - GAMECUBE Untouched--I didn't mess with any settings here
CONFIG - WII Note: The only thing I messed with here is under Wii Remote settings (I have a Mayflash Dolphinbar that I use with a real Wiimote). If you don't have this, then you don't need to change anything here. - Wii Remote Rumble [x] - Wii Remote Continous Scanning [x] - Wii Remote Speaker [x]
CONFIG - ADVANCED - CPU Core: JIT Recompiler for ARM64 (recommended)
CONFIG - LOG, DEBUG, & USER DATA Untouched--I didn't mess with any settings here
GRAPHICS SETTINGS - Video Backend: OpenGL or Vulkan (OpenGL is a bit slower, depending on how demanding the game is, in my experience, but it is less buggy/glitchy than Vulkan). - Show FPS [x] - Shader Compilation Mode: Hybrid Ubershaders (seems to work best for the games I have tested so far) - Compile Shaders Before Starting [x] - Aspect Ratio: Auto
GRAPHICS SETTINGS - ENHANCEMENTS - Internal Resolution: 2x Native I didn't mess with any other settings here
I didn't change anything under Hacks or Advanced under Graphics Settings.
GAMECUBE INPUT - GameCube Controller 1: GameCube Adapter -- I use an OEM Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter along with an OEM GameCube controller.
WII INPUT - Wii Remote 1: Real Wii Remote (DolphinBar required) -- For Wii games, I use the Mayflash Dolpinbar along with an OEM Wii remote / nunchuck (if the game uses one)

As I have done for other consoles, I decided to start a journey of testing out all compatible Dreamcast games (English based and perhaps a few Japanese exclusives if they are good) with the Redream emulator. I'll be doing the tests on my new PC (specs below) and will be recording/playing them in 4K enhanced resolution. I'm a big fan of the Dreamcast (I still have my childhood console that I saved up and bought myself when I was a kid), so I am very excited to test out a bunch of games on the awesome Redream emulator!

For my standard testing, I only change around a few of the emulator's default settings. Here's what I do:
- Settings / GPU Resolution Scale (Disable Strict Mode): 300% (3840x2160) -- i.e. 4K rendering Output Scaling: FidelityFX Super Resolution (I leave the RCAS Sharpening Strength at the default 50%) Vsync: Checked/on
- Settings / Advanced Exclusive Fullscreen Mode: Prefer exclusive fullscreen (I get more stutters if it is set to borderless)
- Settings / Emulator Show PPU compilation hint: Unchecked/off (I just don't like it popping up on the screen) Show shader compilation hint: Unchecked/off (same reason as above)
Some games require more adjustments to get them to work. See my comment for this video for the details.

---------
xemu setup and settings:

I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation. It seems to run GameCube and Wii games pretty well at 2x resolution, which actually looks really nice and crisp on the phone's display.

---------
For my standard testing, I only change around a few of the emulator's default settings.
See my comment for this video for the details.

xemu setup and settings:

The Citra MMJ emulator is branch of the popular Citra emulator. It works a bit better on Android devices than the official builds. However, at the time of testing, a lot of games freeze/crash (both with MMJ and the official Citra releases) when playing on Android.
I am using a PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth with this emulator. For games that require you to use a touch screen, you can just touch your actual screen too.
I am using the phone's built-in video screen recorder. Note that it can have a small impact on performance, so if a game appears slightly jerky but the FPS remains solid, it typically plays smooth as butter on the phone when not recording.

I left most of the Citra MMJ emulator settings at their defaults, but here are some settings to note:
RENDERER - Use Dual Core [x] - Screen Layout: Default - Internal Resolution: 2x - Show FPS [x] - Enable Hardware Shader [x] - Shader Type: Separate Shader (Unstable) -- Try this or Normal Shader with Cache

---------
For my standard testing, I only change around a few of the emulator's default settings.
See my comment for this video for the details.

xemu is currently available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Flatpak, and Ubuntu PPA operating systems.
Note that at this time not all Xbox games are compatible with the xemu emulator, but the awesome xemu devs are constantly working to make more games playable. Here's the official compatibility list: https://xemu.app/#compatibility

As I have done for other consoles, I decided to start a project to test out every English PS3 physically released/retail disc games (mainly focusing on NTSC-U region, but I will be testing other region's exclusive games as long as they are in English and perhaps a few others not in English if they are highly regarded and seem interesting to me). I will be testing games in alphabetical order. I will be rendering the games in 4K (some games at lower resolution if they run poorly at 4K on my PC) via the RPCS3 emulator. The PS3 is one of my favorite consoles, so I am stoked to do this project!
Note that at this time not all PS3 games are compatible with the RPCS3 emulator, but the awesome RPCS3 devs are constantly working to make more games playable.

Want to keep up with my RPCS3 gameplay progress notes and links to the videos I've done so far? All you have to do is click the Google Spreadsheets link below!
---------
For my standard testing, I only change around a few of the emulator's default settings.
See my comment for this video for the details.

xemu is currently available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Flatpak, and Ubuntu PPA operating systems.

I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation. It seems to run GameCube and Wii games pretty well at 2x resolution, which actually looks really nice and crisp on the phone's display.

I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation. For 3DS games, I am testing them first at 2x resolution, which actually looks really nice and crisp on the phone's display.
GOOGLE PIXEL 7 SPECS: - 6.3-inch OLED / 20:9 aspect ratio / Up to 90Hz screen - Google Tensor G2 CPU - Mali-G710 MP7 GPU - 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM - 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage - October 13, 2022 street release date
SYSTEM - Enable CPU JIT [x]
You can map the controller by tapping the 3 dots in the top-right corner of the emulator and then tap on "Input Binding."
Roms need to be decrypted in order to play them with this emulator. You'll need to use Google or search here on YouTube for more about that. Please don't ask for roms!

---------
