When CNN set out to reimagine its Fourth of July coverage for the country’s 250th birthday, the network didn’t just need a new look. It needed a new sound. That’s where Stephen Arnold Music (SAM) came in, composing a full custom music package to underscore CNN’s multi-day Celebrating 250 broadcast events, working in step with an all-new graphics package to give the network’s biggest summer programming event a fresh identity.
Coverage kicked off July 3 with "Independence Eve Live with Anderson & Andy", a Times Square special hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that included a midnight ball drop, before rolling into the flagship The Fourth in America: Celebrating 250 the next day — a daylong broadcast with live reports and fireworks from cities across the country, including a major presence on the National Mall.
