In March, news a Singapore Court had sentenced an 18-year-old American to six strokes with a bamboo cane swept around the world.

And Michael Fay, who insists he was tortured into confessing that he spray-painted cars, was instantly caught in the middle of a raging debate.

After President Clinton personally appealed for leniency, Singapore reduced the sentence from six lashes to four, but that wasnt much consolation for Michael Fay.
