Dark Art Guitars | CNC cut FAN GRILL made of Aluminum @DarkArtGuitars | Uploaded March 2017 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
In this video I use my freshly upgraded diy cnc router to cut out a fan grill out of aluminum. Upgrading the spindle now finally allows me to cut aluminum and finally make this fan grill I had planned for my desk pc since the beginning. But still I can only take really light cuts (around 0.3mm) and go rather slow (around 400mm/min) this results in long cycle time but in an ok part in the end. Because of the high rpm of my spindle and rather cheap endmills the finish is nothing to write home about especially because I get chip welds quite frequently. But in the end I get a usable part which after some cleanup by hand looks good enough.
