This camera is so inexpensive it may be worth it just to have a cheap real 4K cam, but with the battery performance so bad it's hard to justify. The battery is however replaceable (just gotta wait for it to ship). No stabilization? That's fine, I guess. I wanted a more convenient gimbal camera to help me film some disc golf videos and the built in wireless mic/transmitter sold it. I'm so done with having to sync audio in post for what is supposed to be fun/quick/easy videos.
This video answers a few questions: - What is the zoom like on the pocket 3? It's digital zoom, and so few creators focused on it at all beyond a quick mention. I wish there was a traditional physical zoom. I included a ton of DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Zoom Samples - What is the gimbal stabilization actually like? - What is it like to use this camera in the studio? - Why did I buy it again? - Why do I like to so much??
To be honest, this camera and its form factor is not for everyone. It's absurdly expensive for what is essentially limited to a walk-and-talk camera (considering you can get a Nikon Z30 mirrorless camera which will more versatile for the vast majority of users).
Why did I buy it again? And why do I like it so much?

It definitely feels like this computer is a clone of a better machine, because while the actual build feels decent, there's no care to the selection of components. It uses whatever is available instead of actually choosing a decent display panel, a better keyboard, etc.
I'm not really sure who this computer would be best for outside of the super niche mini pc enthusiast audience. It's a head turner for sure because it is like a bigger laptop/macbook but shrunk down. There's just too many compromises"
- It does not "do" games - Day to day use is fine, but multi tasking is slow - It's much heavier and less powerful than a tablet - The keyboard layout is frustrating - The speakers sound hollow - The screen colour accuracy is horrible
I took this little netbook on a trip and used it as my only device for a few weeks, and it got the work done but it is also kind of "no fun" because I couldn't play games on it, I could only do productivity things. And even watching videos was a poor experience due to the bad color of the screen and the hollow speakers.
Anyways, long and short, unless you REALLY love this form factor, I'd pass on it or get something more powerful ie GPD.

This dual channel dashcam uses a separate recording box for the main processing power, which means it should run cooler and not risk overheating in hot summer weather. That plus super capacitors and a locking system makes this one of the more reliable dashcams that I've ever tested.
I personally love this design style and think there should be more cameras available with it. Because it is not going to run as hot, micro SD cards should last longer too!

These are both great cameras and it's hard to say which is the winner. From sheer video quality perspective, the 70Mai crushes, with better plate readability, more pleasing colour rendering and less noise at night. I recommend the A119 Mini 2 for those in hotter/colder climates though, since it has a super capacitor rather than a battery. Also, the faster wi-fi speeds make file transfer easier.

Here are tons of video samples from the 70mai A810 real 4K dashcam. This is a sony starvis 2 based dashcam, which is a newer sensor technology than many cameras on the market. This camera produces excellent video quality both day and night, and has higher plate readability.
Despite this, there are still a few issues. The camera is still based on a battery which means it might not be ideal for hot climates. As well, the A810 has an issue where it only saves 3-4 seconds before you press the lock clip button. Unless you're on the ball with the locked clip, chances are you'll miss the incident!
Otherwise this is a very good camera for starter, as it has excellent video quality and is very easy to set up.

The GKU D600 is an ultra budget dashcam with "4K" single channel or 1440p front in dual channel. Other than the wild compression it actually does a decent job capturing plates for the price. It films in .TS file format with H265 video compression. Video quality wise, for the price, the cameras performance is great. The rear camera is not so great. I know that many people want the cheapest dashcam they can possibly get and don't really care about performance, longevity or brand name and so far it seems like this camera fits that bill. However I want to test it longer term before coming to any final conclusions about its overall quality. Cheaper tech, especially, is fun to push to its limits.

The Hawkeye U1 Pro is a 4K front and 1080p rear dashcam. Front only it shoots in 4K30, but adding in the rear camera drops the framerate to 4K25. It's also supercapacitor based so it should be fine in other climates.
I suspect this is the same camera as the Ombar DC42, although the rear camera is a different style.
This is a video with tons of driving footage and general samples of the U1 pro dashcam. It shoots in H265, and looks way better on my computer before compression, so do note that many of the compression artifacts are a result of the youtube and video editing process. I included some license plate samples in my first clip.
This is more "raw" sample footage than usual.

Did you know iZeeker claims to be previously known as Apeman? Interesting...
This is a test of the iZeeker iA200 action cam. After testing the iA800 earlier in the year (and hopefully I'll be able to provide an updated test soon) I was pretty impressed with that cameras quality, but the memory card issues left me wanting more. Customer support was not helpful in getting a replacement. Despite ghosting me on the iA800 replacement, they later offered to send me an iA200 sample to review, so here is a bunch of video samples and you can make your own conclusions about the quality.
This camera does do a basic 4K30, but turning on the EIS bumps the effective resolution to about the equivalent of 1440p (although it does still output a 4K file). I find by default it was a bit too bright, and turning down the brightness by 1/2 stop helped the video quality substantially. The video quality was best at 1080p 30 with EIS being most effective in this resolution.

The Hawkeye Q5 pro is a sony sensor dashcam with 1440p25 front and 1080p25 rear. It's a super capacitor based camera so should hold up in hotter climates. For the most part video quality is decent, albeit I think that some firmware tweaks could be made to improve the camera. There does not seem to be much noise reduction being applied to the front camera, and at times it looks a bit grainy. But the amount of details is high, especially when stopped. I notice that it picks up the texture on my dashboard whereas other cams smooth that out a lot. The night footage is also quite good in terms of detail. I wish that there was a CPL filter for this camera, as it shows up a lot of reflections.
Overall it seems like a decent camera, that would only get better if firmware tweaks are made.

There was no affordable way to refurbish or replace the battery. The Leaf is a gateway to owning Electric cars. After owning the Leaf I don't want to go back to gasoline, and so I bought a Bolt. I tried my best to not spend this review comparing this Leaf to my Bolt.
If there were a proper battery refurbishment or replacement program for the drive battery, I probably would've kept this Leaf. The minimal degrading range was the only reason I had to sell it.
When I bought the Bolt it would've cost about $15,000 CAD to replace the Leaf battery. I sold the Leaf for $12,000 CAD. So in reality, the difference between buying a brand new car versus replacing the battery in this Leaf was only about $10,000 CAD. And the car had 130,000 KM on it when I sold it. So Car Stuff was going to start going wrong with it, ie brakes, wheel bearings, suspension, etc.

This is a comparison between the high frame rate (60 FPS) mode and the HDR mode. There are a few key takeaways from my opinion on this.
Question: "Should I use the HDR mode on my Viofo A119 Mini 2?" Answer: Probably yes. The 60FPS mode is too compressed. A few more details:
- The 60FPS mode is definitely better at capturing motion. Because there are twice the frames that means there are twice the possibility for one frame to be clear. - The 60FPS mode has too much compression to be reliable. In areas where there is a lot of surrounding detail (trees, plants, overhanging things) the compression becomes very noticeable. - The 30FPS HDR mode has higher possibility of actually capturing plates though. At least in my jurisdiction, plates are bright white and reflect light. They often get blown out and the HDR effect does correct for that, even if the "blending" is not perfect at speed - At night, the HDR is the best mode by far, capturing plates more clearly. Although keep in mind any plate in motion is unlikely to be captured at night. - No modes are reliable at capturing plates head on at high speed.

It is essentially a bigger brother to the BlueSkySea B1W in terms of form factor (a little bit bigger and with newer internals). It offers modern imaging hardware and super capacitor reliability.
All the good things aside, it's hard to recommend this camera over Viofo's own A119 Mini because for about the same price, the A119 Mini has similar video quality and a screen so it can be set up without the app. In my opinion, buying the A119 Mini is the way to go unless you specifically need the tube shape format for some reason.

The camera's issues come down to four main categories:
- Build quality issues: the buttons are very mushy and unresponsive. It makes controlling the camera a challenge, especially combined with the slow user interface. I don't know if buttons have been pressed. The camera body has cracked around the screen despite only using the camera to film this review and not in any 'action' scenes.
- Audio issues: I had to boost all audio in post production by 24db to make this video watchable.
- Video quality issues: The video at 4K30 is fine, as is the 1080p60. The 60FPS videos are severely unoptimized, which is especially disappointing since this is hardware that could do genuine 4K60. The 1440p60 is the biggset joke I've ever seen
- User Interface Issues: Might be a problem with my camera specifically? But I'm not buying another one to try out. The UI is slow and buggy. The camera often takes 30+ seconds to save footage to the card after I have stopped recording, and will freeze for that time. Absolutely unacceptable.
- Lens issues: My unit has a de-centered lens, so part of the frame is often out of focus. There is occasionally haloing/fringing that gives video a soft focus look ,and holding the camera out in front of me to vlog my face is always out of focus unless I hold it 2-3 feet+
Long and short of this is that the hunt for the best budget action cam continues, and this one had so much potential...

The battle of 2K versus 1080p. Both are great dashcams but my A129 is starting to show its age after 4 years of solid service as my main dashcam. The slower Wi-Fi and slight focus shift are big reasons I wanted to put a new camera in my car.
I went with the A229 because it represents a good middle ground for video quality (and I wanted 2K rear to compare against other cameras). Now I can see if a camera claims to be 4K but the video quality is worse, it'll be easier to determine value.

But is it any good? NOPE. Get the Viofo A129 instead: https://dreki.tech/a129
A couple tips for buying dashcams:
- Do not trust the reviews, they're not always honest. Look for real sample footage from actual users and listen to what people don't like about the camera.
- If the dashcam brand sounds like nonsense, the dashcam is probably nonsense. Avoid unknown brands even if they have 100s of reviews!
- Read 4/3/2 star reviews as they tend to be more honest about the product!
- Always buy high endurance Micro SD Cards.
In particular I recommend major dashcam brands like Thinkware or Blackvue for premium cameras and Viofo or Blueskysea for budget cams. They have real 4K, multi-channel, and better customer support. With the cheap unbranded cameras once the return period is over you'll get little to no support and when they have built in batteries they're more likely to fail.

As well, if you're paying attention, look at the clouds on the V1 versus the Mini in many of the daylight shots. The cloud details are visible on the Mini, whereas on the V1 often they are too bright.
One interesting win for the V1: the video looks more like "GoPro" footage in terms of how it processes fine distant detail. The Mini tends to smooth out color more and sharpen around details. It looks more how I expect "Dashcam" footage to look in terms of compression.
Pause the video at night, especially in the parking lot when I'm turning the car, and check out how much sharper signs are and details in the shops on the Mini versus the V1. It's astounding!
Yes I know this is not the A119 V3 (and probably that would have been a better comparison with A119 Mini versus A119 V3 or A129 Plus) but I'm working with what I've got here.
NOTE: Audio has been equalized to make it more pleasant to listen to. The audio comparison clips in the middle of the video feature "default" audio.
Viofo sent me the A119 Mini to review. I've done my best to present unbiased feedback on actual use.

This is the Viofo A119 Mini Review with tons of sample footage. Could this be the best new budget dashcam in 2022? This video includes a history of the camera (and a bit about Viofo), day time footage, night time footage (low light), highway footage, rain footage and more video samples.
Now with fixed audio!
Please note that Viofo sent a sample of this camera for review. They do not pay me any additional compensation, nor do they have a say in the video content I produce. This video is made solely on first hand experience with the device.
The quick summary is that this camera sets a new bar to beat in terms of video quality for the price. Viofo has often been the camera I compare other brands against, and they have another slam dunk on their hands. It remains to be seen if this camera will hold up long term, but if their past history is anything to bank on this camera treated right could last for years.
This camera does have some heat performance issues reported by other users, but likely because of my climate (Canada, and not a hot summer so far) I have not seen these same issues. The camera gets WARM but does not shut off.
Viofo has yet again set a standard for price versus video quality. I can't wait to see who is next to beat it!
A couple recommendations:
- Don't bother with this camera if you want to use 1080p footage. It's best in 2K30 or 2K60. - Get the hardwire kit for parking mode. This piece is an added cost (sold separately). - Make sure to get an endurance memory card. I use Sandisk Endurance ( https://dreki.tech/sandisk-endurance )

The course was designed by InDesign Disc Golf who also made Raptors Knoll, the other course in the tournament. Thanks to our friends at AceRunners for setting up the practice day!!!
I tried my best to give you a good explanation of what's going on as I could not take drone shots. Unfortunately because of the wind and the fact that I'm a recreational player, my putting was not super on point so I missed a lot of 20-30 foot putts I think I should normally make. Embarrassing!
I found the course incredibly challenging and I think there will be a wide swing in scores due to the thick woods. If you can keep your disc straight with some distance you should be able to par out this course. However if you're errant in any way, there's a high chance the next shot will not be doable and you'll have to chip out/take the extra stroke. Throw it straight, throw it far, and try to keep it on the fairway.

This course is majority heavily wooded par 3 course requiring accuracy first. Short throws for placement and avoiding trees are the name of the game. There are several longer holes out in the event bowl area which can get pretty windy. The main part of the course is very green and has thick underbrush so it is common to lose discs here even though there's almost no water. When practicing it is best to only throw 1 disc, or maybe 2, because even if it looks pretty centered it might be hard to find.
This is my practice round where I show you through the course and what to expect if you play at this course in the future.
It's also pretty cool to feature some lesser-known courses around the province because we've got a lot of hidden gems like this, that are not super out of the way.
I would definitely recommend stopping by this course as it is pretty different to most other courses in the area. For players on the short pads it is much easier as the shots become more straight on instead of hyzer/anhyzer.

The Good News? It's absolutely adequate. But it is fake 4K and there is better value available on other brands. | Buy the Rove here: https://dreki.tech/r2-4k
This is a FAKE 4K camera. The best settings to use: - Resolution: 1440p (2560 x 1440) - Parking mode enabled - Shock sensor LOW
Configuring this rove r2-4k dashcam correctly nets very good daytime video and average night video.
I recommend you buy the Viofo A119 instead: https://dreki.tech/a119v3

The A500s Dashcam is a 2K+ and 1080p dual dashcam with crazy good video quality for the price. With little to stand in its way other than the lithium battery, this camera gets a recommendation from me unless you live in a place that is super hot or cold, where batteries are prone to dying faster.
I would however, recommend buying a more expensive camera unless you absolutely need the back camera for this price point. The Viofo A119 is often under $100 USD ( https://dreki.tech/a119v3 ) and includes a capacitor. So while wiring it for parking mode is a bit tougher, it should last longer in hotter climates. The best dashcam for hot climates is one with a super capacitor, so places like Texas, California, Arizona or any other desert should avoid cheap cams with a battery built in.
Finally, 70Mai is not particularly known for their good customer service. So while this camera is cheap, if you get a dud, it may be tough to find recourse (outside of any return period).

Keep in mind with these budget cameras there is no guarantee about long term functionality. Especially since they do have a battery in them instead of a super capacitor. The tldw; on this is that if you're looking for a dashcam with front and rear, at the lowest price, and don't care about a wi-fi app or ADAS systems or anything fancy like this, the SD710 from Surfola seems like a hell of a bargain. If you're looking for the best cheap dashcam, the Surfola SD710 is a decent low price option. Especially if you need forward and backward video. It has a 2K front and 1080p rear camera. A wireless mic is super appealing because I can put the camera down, walk away from the camera, take my shot, then continue babbling on about nonsense. All while not worrying about knocking over the camera or how far away I walk. At least, up to about 100 feet reliably with line-of-site (and 50 feet with my body blocking it).
I would say that the audio it outputs is not quote "professional" per say but it is a huge improvement in terms of post processing requirements to get adequate leveling and cut out wind noise. It's also nice that it can use an external LAV mic to somewhat improve audio quality if you have something better on hand (ie a SONY Lav mic)

It's totally fake 4K! It appears to be also branded as "CAMPARK X40", "ACTMAN X40", and several other "Amazon brands" (see below). At least those brands do not try to make the camera fake 4K 60 and instead stick to 4K 30. I was surprised at the amount of detail this camera managed in broad daylight. However in anything other than direct sun it SUCKS. Because of the variable frame rate issue, don't buy these cameras. Don't trust the Amazon reviews on them. I instead recommend these cameras:
- Single screen? Akaso V50X https://dreki.tech/v50x
- Need dual screen? Akaso Brave 7 LE, XTU S3 and Victure AC960 are all decent, even if not true 4K60 (or true 4K30 EIS). Whichever is cheaper is the one I would recommend (AC960 at time of posting). These all have substantially better build quality and reasonable video quality.
https://dreki.tech/ac960
- Best overall quality budget? DJI Osmo @ $200
https://dreki.tech/osmo-action
This generic camera instead is:
- Very, very poor build quality - Some weird firmware issues - Terrible in anything but broad daylight - Issues with video quality (exposure; aggressive HDR)
It really rocks at stills though I have no idea.
Some examples of this camera from Amazon (I do not recommend buying). All of these cameras appear to have the same or very similar hardware, some even being the exact same cameras. Some brands may better optimize firmware but I think the reality is that this hardware is not powerful enough for true good quality 4K with EIS and that is the main source of issues.
So again, I do not recommend these cameras:
- Campark X40 (likely same processor and same sensor) amzn.to/3hjxrw4
- COOAU SPC01 (same processor; likely same sensor. Every Cooau camera I have tested has been off the shelf with no notable modifications over stock firmware and quite frankly very poor quality): amzn.to/2X9VHt2

When to buy XTU X1: If it goes on sale for $150-ish, the XTU is a far more compelling buy. At $150, it would be heads and tails above other budget action cams I've tested recently, and additionally it does include a bunch of mounts and the extra waterproof housing that Osmo Action does not include.
Also if XTU X1 Max is the only affordable mid-range cam option in your local market, then go for it!
When to buy OSMO Action: If you want noticeably better stabilization and audio quality.

And I honestly don't know how to answer. So I decided to buy all the well rated cams around $50 and put them head to head. Here are the results!
This is part 3 of 4. The finals will be coming soon.
Unfortunately now, every camera brand I have bought except the Dragon Touch Vision 3 has been banned from Amazon. Meaning that overall this project was kinda a waste of time cause now my recommendations are moot. I'd really appreciate the support on Patreon if you want to see more videos like this.
Ironically due to the way the brackets worked out, the 4U was bumped early. It would have been more competitive against the A77 in the finals compared to the CT8500 due to its touch screen. Not that I *really* recommend either the 4U or the CT8500, they're both kinda bad.
Nearly all of these cameras are *gone* from Amazon. I suspect Apeman will be back as some people seem to have re-added a few of their products though and when they do I'll throw a link here. That's really the only way I make money off of these videos, affiliate linking, so it's super unfortunate that the cams are not around.
Anyways, enough rambling, thanks for your support.

My opinions are taken after 3 weeks of driving with this camera testing various modes. Azdome did not have a say in the content of this video, nor did they get a preview of this video before launch.
I'm pretty happy with this camera overall. It's got decent video quality, seems to be reliable even in hotter weather and only one time did I notice any stuttering or frame loss when I went over a large bump.
I'm also very happy that Azdome properly advertised this camera as 1440p instead of claiming that it is 4K like some other sellers with similar hardware. So good on you! Including a Micro SD card is a nice touch as well that way it is easy to avoid cheap or counterfeit cards.

And I honestly don't know how to answer. So I decided to buy all the well rated cams around $50 and put them head to head. Here are the results!
By now, 3 of the 9 camera brands I bought have disappeared from Amazon. We need to talk quickly about that. I think it is because they were caught incentivizing 5-star reviews. Of the 8 cameras I ended up receiving, 6 of them had cards in the box asking for 5-star reviews. Get free batteries, or memory cards, or extra accessories! It's unfortunate because I suspect that the camera which will win this show-down will end up being one of the brands deleted. And possibly by the end of this showdown, the majority of these camera brands will be gone.

And I honestly don't know how to answer. So I decided to buy all the well rated cams around $50, and one generic, and put them side by side. Here's the results of the first two head-to-head competitions.
It's too bad that Apeman got banned from Amazon recently (that'll likely make its whole own video soon), because their cam is showing a lot of promise. I'm also a bit upset that they advertised it as "hyper smooth" and "EIS" when I can't find that setting in the menu but that's something to come up in the next video.
Further to this, I ended up ordering some cameras I did not want to to fill out this review because VICTURE also got banned while I was setting this all up so I ended up cancelling the order.

It's too bad range is such a limiting factor, because aside from that, this is an excellent vehicle. And if you fit the criteria (short/routine commute, mostly drive around home, not in a crazy climate, accessible 120v plug in at home for charging) then an older Leaf may compliment your existing gas vehicle to help you reduce emissions. Because in the end, it's not about being perfectly green, but doing the best we can. And in many places in the states, these things are extremely affordable on the 2nd hand market compared to newer EVs.
Plus it also helps that in my area, this vehicle will almost entirely pay in 6 years of ownership versus the cost of fuel.
