Welcome to Clue 1 of the Mohair Mobile Shawl! We'll knit Sections 1 and 2 of this shawl using the main color and all five contrast colors.
SECTION 1 - Short Rows
1:55 Using MC, CO 3 sts. *K3, sl3 sts onto left needle; repeat from * 164 more times,
3:29 You can place a split ring marker every 15 rows to help keep track of counting the I-cord rows.
4:24 k3. There should be 165 I-cord rows.
5:26 Keep MC attached.
TRIANGLE SHORT ROW
5:57 Use CC1
6:07 RS: Using next CC, pick up and k15 sts along the I-cord edge. Turn to work WS.
8:24 WS: K15. Turn to work RS.
9:06 RS: K14. Turn to work WS.
10:14 WS: K13. Turn to work RS.
10:40 RS: K12. Turn to work WS.
11:05 WS: K11. Turn to work RS.
12:26 WS: K1. Turn to work RS. Break CC.
13:10 RS: Slip 8 sts onto right needle.
13:40 Repeat all Triangle instructions 10 more times using a new color for each triangle.
14:25 RS: Using next CC, pick up and k15 sts along the I-cord edge. Turn to work WS.
15:50 WS: K15. Turn to work RS.
16:20 RS: K14. Turn to work WS.
17:03 WS: K1. Turn to work RS. Break CC.
17:15 RS: Slip 8 sts onto right needle
18:38 RS: Slip 8 sts onto right needle.
19:20 Slide all the sts onto the left needle, so you are ready to work a RS row with MC.
19:43 Next Row (RS): Using MC, k the first 3 MC sts, yo, (k1, yo) to end of row.
21:13 Next Row (WS): Pick up and k3 sts along the I-cord CO edge,
21:53 *sl3 sts onto left needle, k2, ssk; repeat from * until 6 total sts remain.
24:18 Place the first 3 sts onto your right needle and the last 3 sts onto your left needle with the purl bumps facing each other and both needles pointing to the right.
24:50 Break yarn leaving an 8" / 20cm tail.
25:00 Graft the remaining 6 sts together.
26:18 Weave in the ends from SECTION 1
26:27 The ends from Triangles 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, & 11 can be woven in on the WS.
28:23 For Triangles 2, 4, 6, 8, & 10, poke the ends to the RS of the fabric and weave in the ends on the RS because the WS of these uneven Triangle numbers is going to be the visible side in the final shawl.
SECTION 2 - Tiny Bobbles & Marled Waves
34:43 Use only 1 strand of CC1 in Rows 1 - 4 and Rows 7 & 8
25:04 Row 1 (RS): Using CC1, pick up and k3 sts from the I-cord CO corner of Triangle 11.
36:08 Pick up and k15 sts along the I-cord CO edge of Triangle 11,
38:09 Pick up and k31 sts along the BO edge of Triangle 10.
41:58 Pick up and k15 sts along the I-cord CO edge of Triangle 9.
