This idea started when I was looking around for audio to edit with, since I felt in the mood to do smth with AE, but had no song inspiration. I happened to find a couple songs edited by people on Soundcloud, and this was one that spoke to me the most.
I was quite amazed by how natural the sound of the sound effects was, honestly ^^
After a while of thinking who to edit with here, I finally decided on using Cloud and Zack, as I feel like they are quite cute together, and I like seeing how happy they were, when they were around each other ^^
So, kind of like a shipping edit, I suppose!
From the point of setting down the audio, the editing process was rather disturbed due to school, art showcases and whatnot.
Though when I got to setting the clips, my idea for them was very simple, yet maybe fitting for this whole audio. Basically, At the start, it shows Cloud for the ''I'', and then it continues to show two girls he has known in life, but with whom he generally didn't feel a ''click'' with, but then there was Zack, who he found himself mesmerized by, and it was his presence that made him feel the safest and happiest.
For quite a while, this project was sitting there in AE as simply clips with Twixtor and a coloring.
That is until 2 days ago. Earlier that day I felt like I wasn't really in a creative mood, but then I opened AE and simply tried to place down the fades to and from black, at the start, to get this project moving forward. After doing so, I tried to do the start of the chorus, and seeing how smooth that turned out to look, effectively gave me some more motivation to continue editing.
I finished everything else about the effects and transitions all in the same evening, buuuut, rendering could have gone better. I had to render this a few times. The first time I did so through Media Encoder, and it had stopped and was going down at 8 minutes, but for some strange reason, I thought that the preview it was showing would be the result, meaning that appaaarently it ''wouldn't have any fades''. Well that was wrong, I realized later on, but yeah. So I cancelled that render and went into AE and it took 18 minutes or so to render, which is longer, but it was still fine. And everything else afterwards would've been all fine and dandy IF the video didn't have some little mistakes that I didn't like. And so, I went back to fix it andthen I decided to give Media Encoder another try.
My entire laptop just went ''derp'' or something after that. lol
So I had GPU acceleration enabled, and usually it would render very quickly. It even dropped back down to a low estimated time remaining, but then??? It just??? Started going up??? And up??? XD''
That really confused me, but I was like ''okay let's roll with it''. I even though that I'm glad I'm not gonna be sitting here for about an hour, but I think that might've jinxed something XD''
The render time kept dragging ooooonnn, and rendering super slowly, and at one point it was even stuck on ''20 minutes remaining''. It was already past midnight and I wanted to go to b e d, but I also wanted this to finish.
Towards the ending of the video, I decided to check out how much of the GPU is even being used. *The usage was at 3%* - like excuse me? XD I really like how you were supposed to render with the GPU, but you seem to have forgotten that XD I minimized it for a moment, and then came back a moment later to the same thing. And the thing is - when I kept task manager open on my screen for a while, the GPU usage actually jumped up to 21% usage and the render time started speeding up and *then* it finally rendered reasonably again, and finished rendering very quickly.
All and all it still took 58 minutes to render, but like...did it seriously ''forget'' that it needed to render with the gpu, or something? XD
Anyways, that was the most tedious part of making this XD
In general I'm quite happy with the result though, and with how smooth it is ^^
Surprisingly, I don't think there's anything I dislike about it!

Since Christmas is close and I don't think I will be making any special video for that day, I want to wish a merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and a happy new year ^^ If y'all don't celebrate Christmas I hope that you still have a great day ^^
I'm real happy that my winter break is finally here. Granted, about half of this month was already a bit of a break for me, due to simply having to wait for showcases, and having the rest of the work done. But now that everything is over for this semester, it feels nice to know that it's really time to just let myself calm down and enjoy the break ^^

I believe this idea came to me from a sudden spur of motivation to edit with MGS2, especially Raiden in that game! Aaaand this is my first AE edit in quiiitee a while!!
Currently playing MGS2 and its definitely one of my favorites right now!
I had decided on finding some edit audio that someone else has already made, to make it easier for myself. I found this one through a compilation on YouTube, and at one point it was between this song and an edited audio of Art Gang Money. I had decided on this one, as the latter felt a bit too badass, but this game feels like its more dark, mysterious, and has moments that feel like its hinting towards an identity crisis. This song is also very dark and sad, so it captured the vibe of what i imagine Raiden to be feeling at points, or maybe how i see the game at points.
I had thought about replacing this song with an instrumental version, but i realized that that would take some more effort on my part to sync it to what i already had and slow it down just enough. So i decided to keep editing with this audio.
I decided quite early on that i wanted to use AE for this one. I wanted to befriend the program again (even if 1-2 months ago i needed to use it on a daily basis, basically), and i wanted to muster up the patience to watch some glitch tutorials that felt helpful to me.
It took a bit of effort to start working with the program again, but i got the hang of it again quick enough. As i was listening to the song, i knew i wanted to work with melty transitions and fades to black, and shape transitions. So i followed my ideas but deviated when i saw fit, and actually, this result ended up being better/more interesting than what i had in mind.
I really got into it and it was fun trying to think of ways to make the shape transition work. Took me about one day (the same day that i started this project on) to finish setting the clips and finish the part from 0:09-0:13 and the overlay in the bg and zoom out at 0:14. The rest I did and finished the next morning.
I also wanted to add some slightly cryptic text, like something that could describe the mission that Raiden has been put on. And in general i wanted the clips and the idea of this to pull on the heartstrings just a little bit.
Ah, and i added one short bit/transcript of a codec call from the game in the intro.
And then when i looped the edit, i wanted to try out an effect called posterize time.
Ah and while making this, i learned about some tools/a plugin called EZ tools, and so i downloaded that one and tried to get the hang of using it, and it was rather useful for some areas~
Had one small issue after rendering twice. This was the first render that succeeded, however, during the loop, there is a section that glitches into one of the clips of Raiden (its just a static image of him entering the room) and that is not supposed to be there. This same image appears at the veeery end of this video too, which also isnt supposed to be there, but its rather amusing lol
i tried to render a higher quality version and wanted to see if that could fix it, but no, that made it worse. In that render, the beginning also had weird glitches like this with other clips, but i didnt want to make the render any worse than this and i didnt want to render again. So heres this slightly lower quality, but comparably less glitchy render.
The render time itself wasnt bad. From what i recall it could have been like 22 minutes.
Overall Im very happy with the result of this edit. Though i feel like the composition could have been better at points, it was really fun to make, so i think that, alone, is good enough too.
Oh oh right! and as for MGS2, waahh i really like this game! its the next game im playing after MGR, and its really interesting to see how Raiden once was. I find it very interesting to think to myself what exactly could have caused him to slowly develop into who he became in MGR. Well, one thing is that he hadnt lost his human body in this game yet, i think.
Im really enjoying my experience with the game, and while its hard to not get spoiled for it, this game iiisss 11 years old, so that is to be excepted.
Not too far into the game yet, but thats okay.

Behold, the project that I dubbed the 30 fps project that looks its in 60 fps XD
Okay, but on a more serious note!
This began when I wanted to download some raw/hd footage of DMC4, buuut it ended up taking nearly an entire day to download. I needed to leave my laptop on for a night to let it finish asdkjas-
And then the next day, I figured that if it took that long, I should put the clips to use, and so, this happened. Its not like this idea was forced tho - I was looking through my playlist of songs/stuff I plan on editing with, and I found this. As I was listening, I thought it would be cool to make a DMC4 edit with this song.
My idea was a bit all over the place and nothing specific, but whatever I had in mind at first - the result turned out to be much better ^^
I didnt want to bother with 60 fps so I went with 30 fps ^^
Apparently I was also so excited that I ended up placing down nearly every new clip I saw in the cutscenes XD
And I was able to do like 93% of this video in one day, too! The only things I had to do today were finish up the effects on the clips from 0:08-0:11 ^^ (The text there was also done yesterday, and so was the outro ^^)
I also hope that the lyrics are correct bc I took them from a site with color coded lyrics, but on a color coded lyrics video here on YT, some words were different ^^ Although, it seemed that I could find more than one source with the lyrics and translation that I used here, which is good ^^
Another thing I would like to say is that this took 11 minutes and 11 seconds to render originally which is pretty amazing XD However, after watching the result a couple times, I decided to fix a tiny thing in this video, since it took such a short time to render. I decided to add Twixtor to the b&w clip of Nero that appears near the end, where the first Mic comes in. It moved a little too fast in the original clip, like it just sprang into existence, even if I tried to slow it down ^^ So thats where I took out AE, and after putting that little clip back into Vegas and copying the effects back onto it, I realized that the Twixtor was much needed! It looks so much smoother and better this way ^^ Also, fixing this made me realize that I made a little mistake in the outro - I left the word song unbolded while the rest of the words were bolded, so I fixed it, so that all four words there, at the beginning of the paragraphs, would be simply italic ^^
I also tried out some liiittle new things here and there in this edit, like brief new shakes, adding a glowing double shadow, more brief rotations, a new way of making muffled audio, and trying to tie the effects in more with the sound effects that I add ^^
I want to also say that towards the end of making this, I realized something about how I was editing. This kind of feeling began in my last two projects (one of which Im still yet to post) - I didnt feel worried about what I was making, or worrying about adding anything new or pretty - I was simply making whatever unconsciously came to me, and what felt right ^^ Thats when I realized that it could be best to keep it this way and try to not let insecurity get to me, bc I believe that it could be in the moments of unconsciousness that youre able to create something pretty anyways. A little poetic there, I suppose ^^
But that can depend from person to person, I suppose! This is personally just the case for me, it seems ^^

So yeah! All and all I wanna say that Im very happy with this edit and theres nothing I dislike about it!

This was made as a little challenge for myself!
When I first heard this song yesterday, I was pretty much smacked with ideas for an edit revolving around this song and Reno, but my ideas were quite chaotic and all over the place, and so, I decided, that while the ideas are still fresh in my mind, I could try doing a speed edit.
I set a time limit for myself for this edit, and that was 3 hours. I ended up finishing this entire thing in 2 hours and 24 minutes according to the recording I did, and Im glad I was able to do everything in time. Aaand rendering this took 20 minutes and 17 seconds.
I didnt try to put too much effort into making this look the way I wanted it to, and making it look the way I envision the music. This was supposed to be just a practice edit, after all.
At the start of making this, I did actually edit the way I usually would, where I would all my focus into perfecting a certain area before I move onto the next, but then I remembered my time limit, and eventually I started editing in the way where, in big leaps, I would add the general idea of what I wanted, and only after finishing the whole video would I return to those little parts to fix them up.
Another thing that I would like to mention is that I used a reference for the coloring from a gif that I found, bc I liked the paleness and the general look of it, but I still ended up tweaking it to how I like it and how it could fit into my style and whatnot.

Actually, I feel like this song fits Reno in some ways, bc it has a lot of attitude and has a party vibe, just like his entire character XD

So I finally decided to try out MME yesterday and try loading stages within the accessories! And also moving around the stage and characters more :3
This isnt my first attempt at doing so, but I will provide a link to my first attempt down below ^^
The main reason why I remade my first attempt was bc, the character I used there, Sora, had white eyelashes, when adding the raycast effect, and I found that so disturbing, and in general I thought I could try something else. Although, I am happy with how the lighting turned out to look in that one ^^
However, even if I really wanted to, I couldnt add motion blur to this video, bc if I did, it reeeally messed up the stage, for some reason ^^ But I did add motion blur in my first attempt, so yall can check it out there :3
in general I really like this soft look, and I may or may not continue using it, until I find some effects that I could like better ^^

This is definitely one of the edits I want to reupload from Vlare ^^
Though, again, I dont have the old description I had, I suppose I can still simply say that I feel very proud of this result. I dont remember too much of my thoughts while making it, but this will come hand-in-hand with the next video I reupload(ed) - the video showcasing my editing stages. It was fun to render out parts separately like this, and I believe this video was a lot of fun to make ^^ And I simply felt inspired to make a video of appreciation for the animation in this particular episode - its also one of my favorites in DM :3
