Rock Band 2 online on rpcs3 is here! Thank you ihatecompvir for figuring out that you can log in to the actual rock band 2 ps3 servers without any sort of authentication. (like come on harmonix lmao)
Getting online is also easy, just make an RPCN account and set the name of it to a real PSN account that has played rock band 2 in the past (if you personally dont have a PSN account that has played rock band 2 you can just look up a video of a person playing online in the ps3 version of rock band and borrow their name) After that just set this hmxcertps3.hmxservices.com=54.165.123.154 IP address on your network settings on RPCS3 and you should be able to play online.
Also yes, cross platform play with rpcs3 and ps3 is possible. On this video Snow leintrovert was playing on his actual PS3 while me and canonymous where on the emulator.
Here is my report on the RPCN combability spreadsheet:
