So i haven't uploaded to YT in a while, and i don't really have a good excuse. I'm just lazy, and exporting a .wav file and uploading it to SoundCloud is way easier than rendering a video. So i rendered six videos and i'm releasing them all tonight, so that YouTube channel is up-to-date with my Soundcloud.
So i'd been playing through Circle of the Moon recently and wanted to cover a track from it. I also decided to use the huge N163 slap bass waveforms from VinylCheese's Yogurt Yard cover, which i really like.

Ive tried to cover this song around 4 or 5 times and even finished one version, a very bad VRC6 version that thankfully predates this one by a year or more. This was one of the first songs i covered in FamiTracker, and for whatever reason, i havent been able to do better since...until now, obviously.
Sonic 3s entire OST is a joy to cover: it seems to fit so perfectly with the 2A03+VRC6 limitation i typically set for myself. Expect to see more S3 songs in the coming months, provided i dont disappear as per usual.

So its been a full month since my last upload and even longer since my last from-scratch Castlevania cover. College is slowly eating my life away so i havent had much time to do anything FamiTracker related, but hopefully thisll make up for it. I had a lot of fun with this one and i think it shows.

I havent seen much in the way of FamiTracker covers for this track, so i figured id do one myself and see how well i could replicate it. The hardest part was probably just separating the song into small chunks so i could focus on one part at a time. For someone who enjoys communism, these time signatures arent very equal.
The actual sequence of time signatures is as follows: 4 measures of 3/4 (the intro), 1 measure of 7/4, 7 measures of 3/4, 2 measures of 5/4, 4 measures of 3/4, 1 measure of 7/4, 7 measures of 3/4, 2 measures of 5/4, 8 measures of 3/4, 2 measures of 5/4, 4 measures of 3/4, 2 measures of 5/4, 2 measures of 3/4, 1 measure of 5/4, 12 measures of 3/4, and repeat.

The second part of Vampire Killer 2002 that i didnt cover originally. I couldnt come up with a solid transition between the two that didnt feel jagged, like in the original piece, so i scrapped it. Then i was gonna try splicing this in with a VRC6 cover of CotMs rendition of Clockwork but also couldnt transition between the two smoothly.
After going back to the drawing board, i began work on a Custom Cover of Akumajou Densetsus original version of Clockwork, but i felt it...lacked something. So i took a few notes (haha that hurt) from VK2K2s version and here we are now.
(I also tried out a new recording method for this video. I shot 0CC-FamiTracker in Windowed Mode at a resolution of 1280x720 instead of the oddball 1899x897 Fullscreen Mode i was using before, so the video should be a bit cleaner despite not being 1080p. Hopefully you guys like it.)

this is the first cover in what i hope to be a full album of MMC5 versions of Castlevania 3 songs, an idea i came up with when i discovered the US version of CV3 actually uses the MMC5, not the VRC6, though obviously it doesnt have the extra pulse channels since the NES couldnt support them, lousy thing. basically, think of this as the JP composition with US-inspired sound design. and corrected drum samples because yeah
