“Once you hold these longer timeframes in mind, you start to raise the question of what you do on Monday. Does your behavior start to reflect this larger frame?”
— Stewart Brand, co-founder of The Long Now Foundation.
We’re excited to share new footage of The Clock of the Long Now featuring our founders — Danny Hillis, Stewart Brand, and Brian Eno — as the bells of The Clock peal for the first time.
For more than 25 years, The Long Now Foundation has been working on The Clock of the Long Now — a monument scale mechanical clock, built inside a mountain, designed to keep accurate time for the next ten millennia. Installation of The Clock is now in progress at our site in West Texas. To learn more about The Clock of the Long Now visit longnow.org/clock
As we continue to build The Clock of the Long Now, we hope to build The Long Now Foundation into a global institution that can last for generations to come. We believe the world deserves a lasting home for long-term thinking. Long Now’s work is entirely supported by our members and donors from all over the world. To learn more about Long Now and to support our work, visit longnow.org
This footage is from the new documentary We Are As Gods, which explores the many legacies of Long Now co-founder Stewart Brand. Learn more at https://weareasgods.film
