Are you ready for longer days? We are, and tomorrow, we’ll be busy changing the time on 2000 clocks across Parliament 🕒
At 1am tomorrow morning, all the UK's clocks will go forward to make way for British Summer Time. Including the Great Clock, which requires a little more attention than most… 🔧
Our clock makers will be testing the clock’s mechanism. They will lower the clock’s weights to stop it running and perform maintenance to keep it in top condition. So, from 6pm on Saturday, the hands will be telling the wrong time, and the bells will also be silenced 🔇
By midnight, the team hope to have the hands telling the new time. By 12:45am, the chimes should return, followed by the bongs at 2am marking the start of British Summer Time. The lights will be switched back on showing the new time of 2am 💡
