“Transformative adaptation” can be understood as change that can overcome inequalities and root causes of vulnerability. As part of the activities of its programme on Social Dimensions of Sustainable Development, UNRISD organized a seminar that brought together experts who unpacked this concept, assessing its potential to inform policy making for urban climate resilience and social development in coastal cities.
