Pierce County had the honor of hosting Washington State for a milestone moment: the release of its first-ever Comprehensive Climate Action Plan, right here on Earth Day. 🌎
The CCAP is Washington's economy-wide roadmap for meeting legally mandated greenhouse gas limits, and it means real things for real people. Cleaner air. Good jobs. Lower energy costs. Stronger communities. Implementation is projected to create more than 38,000 jobs and generate over $40 billion in income by 2050.
Director Casey Sixkiller of WA Dept. of Ecology and Assistant Director Jennifer Grove of WA Dept. of Commerce joined Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello, Port Commissioner Kristin Ang, union leaders, state legislators, and local elected officials to talk about how Pierce County turns this plan into action.
