Thanks to an idea by Arie for Reverse All Cards, it was found that killing the cleft instead of the spiked goomba, is actually faster (RAC needed the extra star points,, so they killed the cleft for the 1 extra). The cleft gives 4-7 coins, meaning you can skip the slide if you get 6 or 7 which I believe is pretty common but I don't have any actual data on that. The spiked goomba only gave 3-4 coins. The fight is fastre as well because it skips a double partner swap, from bombette to kooper before the jail fight, and from kooper to bombette while doing log skip. If you swap from kooper to bombette while in log skip room, you can save frames over doing it elsewhere because rowl moves when you switch partners (this is not faster if you do log skip with jumps, keep in mind).
This saves 6.27 seconds according to this timing, but rng will change that. If you miss the first strike with bomb, you can use the thunder bolt on the cleft, and pick up the shooting star and use that on laki instead of the thunder bolt. this probably loses like 8 seconds but I wont be timing that.

it wastes 9.7 sec to hit this block on n64 with all that lag. the old comparison video that I had before had the same timing, however since I was on wii u, and wii u is total trash, and the movement was from 2 years ago, the movement was bad, i actually wasted like half a second of time from movement in that comparison. so wii u actually saves an additional ~0.43 over n64 on this block in this comparison from a bit less lag and faster loading. making it waste 9.27 sec to use on wii u.")
