In this video, I explore how I’ve been integrating Claude cowork into an academic workflow and what makes it feel different from the typical chat-based tools many of us are used to. For me, the real shift isn’t just about getting answers faster, but about building systems that can repeat high-quality processes over time. That’s where things start to become genuinely useful for research and writing.
When I first started thinking about how to use claude cowork, I realised it works best when you treat it less like a chatbot and more like a structured assistant that can manage ongoing tasks. This is especially clear when working with Claude co-work projects, where I can store instructions, reference materials, and previous outputs in one place. Over time, this creates a more stable and predictable environment for research, which is something that is often missing when using general AI tools.
One area I’ve found particularly valuable is designing repeatable workflows. Instead of starting from scratch each time, I can define processes that reflect how I actually work, and then refine them gradually. This becomes even more powerful when exploring usecases for claude cowork, such as literature discovery, drafting structured outputs, or preparing materials for group meetings. These are tasks that normally require multiple tools and a lot of manual coordination, so having them connected in one system changes how I approach them.
Another important aspect is the ability to extend functionality through claude cowork plugins, connectors and skills. By linking external sources and creating reusable workflows, I can reduce the risk of inconsistent outputs and improve the reliability of what I produce. This also allows me to focus more on evaluating ideas and less on managing the mechanics of the process.
