This 1966 Tarzan series, produced by the same forces who were making the films, lasted two years but has enjoyed a healthy afterlife in syndication and on nostalgia-themed tv channels. Ron Ely (who starred as 'Doc Savage' in the George Pal film) set the standard for tv Tarzans. Over the show's two seasons it had three different themes, all included here:
00:00 Intro/explainer. A summary of Tarzan and how he came to be, this was used on a few early episodes.
01:24 Opening titles and end credits: season one. Walter Greene composed theme #1; he was known for scoring sci-fi films like 'The Brain from Planet Arous'.
02:54 Opening titles and end credits (revised): season one. A few months into the first season a new theme took over. 'Tarzan's March' was written by Sydney Lee, who has just a handful of credits at IMDB.
04:24 Opening titles and end credits: season two. Theme #3 comes courtesy of Nelson Riddle ('The Untouchables') and is a tad more modernistic than the earlier versions.
