There are many maps in old school Monster Hunter that have never returned to more recent games like Monster Hunter Generations. These videos are to showcase the beautiful environments Capcom engineered that will never return. Enjoy.
This is the OLD DESERT, which actually did return in 4th Generation Monster Hunter as the DUNES. However, it underwent a complete design overhaul and while the DUNES is less empty and each area feels unique, it lost a ton of atmosphere. The desert here actually feels vast and empty, actually deserted. Plus, you can actually get lost in it if you don't have a map. I think it's the closest we've ever gotten to a desert that makes you feel deserted.
