This is the videorecording of our regularly scheduled Classic Metal Class, where metalheads-from-childhood Scott Tarulli and Greg Sadler delve into topics at the intersection of music history, philosophy, sociology, music theory, and other fields. Class is held monthly, depending on scheduling. You can find out when the class is scheduled by going to the ReasonIO events calendar, or following Greg in social media

In this session we return to ethical issues raised within the heavy metal world, specifically the business practice of paid meet and greets for bands, often bundled in with other perks and merch as part of a VIP package. Some bands charge quite high rates for getting to take a picture and perhaps at best a minute of interaction with an artist, while others are much more generous with their time and attention. The fundamental question, considered in terms of moral theories is whether it is ethical or not for bands to charge significant amounts of money for paid meet and greets.
