In this recording, Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is joined by Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs to explore and tell the stories behind the band’s debut album Foxbase Alpha. When it was released in 1991 on Heavenly Recordings, the album was emblematic of the indie and dance music cross-pollination as well as the cinematic lounge and chill out scene. Featuring singles ‘Nothing Can Stop Us’ and ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’, Foxbase Alpha was nominated for a Mercury Prize and over 30 years later is still beloved by fans.

It’s a British classic and a natural choice for National Album Day celebrations.

Classic Album Sundays tells the stories behind the albums that have shaped our culture and our lives. Not always on Sundays, it is the world’s most popular album listening event.
