London Overground train drivers are being trained on Class 710 trains, prior to their introduction on this route.

Once in service the Class 710 trains will replace the existing Class 378 trains - which will be reallocated to help boost services on the East London line London Overground route which passes through the Brunel tunnels below the river Thames.

The reason why the East London route cannot have the new trains is that the tunnels are narrow and single-bore, and therefore the trains which pass through it are legally required to have emergency exits at each end ... this being something that the new Class 710 trains do not have.
