This issue came up a little while ago, and I finally have time to clarify what I meant in my sermon called "No Hope For The Hardened Heart." There are many people who truly struggle with salvation for years, before they finally have assurance that God has saved them. People whose hearts are hardened have a strange calmness about their lost condition. I thought I made that point very clear in my sermon, but I will here clarify it again. Struggling with salvation is NOT a "hardened heart".
