A couple of days ago I made some videos in which I proposed that the copyright laws should be changed so that others can repost our videos after we have removed them.

I argued that the importance of keeping a historical record should outweigh our control over our videos once we have made them public.
Fakesagan makes an impassioned case in this video against my point of view.

Pay close attention between 7:30 and 9:00 into the video.
People may have also gotten the wrong idea that I consider fakesagan a scoundral. I want to correct that situation since I do think highly of him, despite our disagreements.

A great big hat tip to J6a6so6n! I said in this video that ""I find as a general rule most of the time it works that you shouldn't attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence or negligence in your opponent". I knew I had heard something like this many years ago, but I didn't know where it was from. J6a6so6n sent me a pm pointing out that this is known as "Hanlon's Razor". The statement was originally formulated as "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."
Robert J. Hanlon was the author of this sage advice and it first appeared in 1980 in Murphy's Law book two: More reasons why things go wrong!" by Arthur Bloch. For more information about this see:
