The ROYAL FUZZ is combination of both Fuzz and Overdrive in one unit. The usual problem with this is that the two effects are different things, and one wonders how CKK go about achieving it.
The answer is fairly simple. CKK have voiced the pedal so that it features different tonal frequencies within the different tone bands, so for example, down at the low frequency end of things, the tone is fat and oversaturated like a good fuzz should be, whereas at the high frequency end, its voiced to bring out the rich overtones associated with a good overdriven signal. When you use the Tone knob, you actually sweep the different ranges giving you a surprisingly varied series of tones.
In addition to this, the pedal features a couple of switches that can alter the sound again. There are 2 switches, one a MID BOOST and the other named STYLE. As you get close to a distortion type sound the Mid Boost switch throws you right into that territory, whilst the Style switch has much more of an affect on the Fuzz tone.
With a bit of patience manipulating the tone controls. It's possible to get a wide range of tones from this little unit.
