It’s when I can begin adding more layers and textures without trying too hard. Just pull out a few pillows and throw blankets, and maybe a few outdoor elements and I’m happy to nest! While I’m always sorry to say good-bye to summer - sniff! - I do love the warmth and coziness that the fall season brings. And my indoor style always reflects this transition. It's soft, moody, full of texture and always includes a bit of the outdoors, too.This year, I would describe my fall home style as both cozy and modern. That’s because I consciouisly decided to decorate without adding any traditional yellows or rust tones. Instead, I opted to use natural, organic elements such as wood and faux leather, preserved eucalyptus and pampas grass, to convey the season indoors. The decision to stay ‘neutral’ with my decor palette is in keeping with my love of neutrals and made decorating this fall a breeze! Blending my seasonal decor with the rest of my home was so, so easy. My outdoor style is easy to recreate anywhere. That’s because I use the same two staples for decorating outdoors: mums and pumpkins. Like a basic white T-shirt and a pair of jeans, mums and pumpkins are a no-brainer for me, making it so easy to decorate our porch for fall. Whether you’ve got ample porch space or hardly any room, a lot of steps or just one or two, adding mums and pumpkins is a great way to add loads of curb appeal without trying too hard. And with so many colours and combinations to choose from, your front porch will always look fresh and new, year after year.Tips to keep your potted mums and pumpkins fresher for longer:MUMS: Remove any blooms that are dead or dying by popping off the head of each flower. This is called ‘dead-heading’ your mums. This makes space for new blooms.MUMS: Make sure the soil is moist to the touch.
